A big thank you to the Rainhill Rotary Club for there £500 donation to Rainford Rangers to help establish the new Home of Rainford Rangers.
This is very much appreciated by all connected with the club and we say a big "THANK YOU" to Rainhill Rotary for supporting grassroots football.

Rainford Rangers are celebrating following a £16,885 grant awarded by the Football Foundation, the country’s largest sports charity.
The funding boost will allow Rainford Rangers Football Club to establish a new ‘home’. The project consists of converting nine acres of agricultural land into a state-of-the-art football facility, creating three full-size junior pitches and two mini-soccer pitches in a safe and central location.

For 35 years Rainford Rangers Junior Football Club has provided opportunities for children in the village to play football, develop and realise their potential. Our club has positively impacted thousands of children. Historically we have been dependent on local schools and the St Helens Council to provide playing and training facilities. It has always been our vision to establish a home ground, a facility we can truly call ‘THE HOME OF RAINFORD RANGERS’. Given the present number of teams in our younger age groups, and to meet the expected demand for pitches in the future, we now need to turn that vision into reality. To enable us to achieve our aim we have been granted planning permission to create up to 5 new football pitches, in an ideal location on land at the rear of the Parish Church. This is an ideal location for both Rainford Rangers and the Local Community.
This will enable the club to develop and provide:-

To meet the cost of the project we have applied for funding from the Football Foundation, who should provide us with approximately half of the cost. We are also organising various fundraising events, which are proving very popular, thanks to all who have given their support.
In order to raise the balance, we are inviting the people of Rainford and anyone who has been connected with the club or will be in the future, to ‘buy’ a square metre of turf for the new pitches. If you would like to ‘buy’ one or more of our new pitches, please complete and return the ‘buy’ a square metre of turf form together with your cheque for the appropriate amount. All contributions will be acknowledged. All those who contribute will be entered into a raffle, the number of tickets will be dependent on the number of square meters purchased. Included in the raffle will be a holiday voucher. The raffle will take place at the inaugural opening of the new ground.

I'm pleased to report on Sunday 30th May England beat Spain 2-1 to lift their first ever European U17 Championship. Captain of the England side and with the honour of lifting the trophy was Conor Coady, who played for Rainford Rangers ten years ago before joining Liverpool. Conor is also captain of Liverpool U18's. Rainford Rangers was the only junior football club Conor played for.
It is the first men's competition England have won since 1993 when the likes of Robbie Fowler, Paul Scholes and Sol Campbell clinched the European U18 Championships.
I believe Conor will be offered a 3 year professional contract with Liverpool this week.
I'm sure you join me in wishing him well with his future career in professional football.
The weeks of action, which take place between 15-27 October 2010, is the largest community engagement initiative in football with each of the 92 professional clubs dedicating a home fixture to the One Game message of equality and anti-discrimination across all levels of the game. There will be an estimated 1000 events taking place across the country in youth and community centres, schools, universities, libraries and places of worship.
The film, a one-minute trailer, will be played on big screens inside football stadia throughout the weeks of action. It is estimated over 500,000 football fans will see the film, which will also be given to football clubs as part of their outreach and community programmes for the remainder of the season. Football fans and clubs around the country were asked to submit photos of what football meant to them and after a extensive selection process, photos supplied by Rainford Rangers made the final cut.
Click here to view the film at http://www.youtube.com/v/ZUq6VaPI9h8We have some outstanding photographs of the players for purchase.
These are of individuals and teams including many 'action' shots. To view these photos please follow the link to our photography site and enter a password, this can be obtained from a team coach. All proceeds, less a small amount to pay the hosting website, goes to the club. A big thank you to Mark Crossfield for managing this.
